Christmas in Waynesville, NC (Western NC)

Two families are possibly going to be staying in a cabin in Waynesville over Christmas Break . The children range in age from ages 18-23, what do you recommend we do to have a wonderful Mountain Christmas? I already know about The Biltmore House at Christmas time, and I understand The Grove has a gingerbread display. What else do you recommend in the Maggie Valley-Asheville area? All are world travelers and like to have fun,

so any activity would be open to us. We are willing to drive one to one and a half hours to do interesting activities from the Waynesville area.

this should be in the asheville forum... waynesville is very far from raleigh!

the grove park's gingerbread house display is awesome, and free! there is skiing at cataloochee and wolf laurel, although if you're used to good skiing you'll be disappointed. you should definitely check out downtown asheville, lots of amazing restaurants! if you like beer, asheville has tons of breweries as well. another fun place in the area is santa's land... a totally cheesy amusement park! http://www.santaslandnc.com/ check the calendar at http://www.mountainx.com/ to see what is going on when you guys are visiting.
