Hatteras to Oracoke & Blackbeard

Planning an overnight trip in October from Williamsburg to Oracoke driving down outer banks. Is the Ferry from Hatteras one that takes minivans? Is it easy to get a space on it? and I can't find anything on the "real" Teach's Hole except you can walk there. I am interested in see and history in connection with Blackbeard. What is there to do and see on Oracoke if you are only there for an afternoon?

The ferry takes motorcycles to semi trucks. If it gets to Ocracoke it goes via ferry -- gas, food, building materials, tourists, you name it. Just get there and get in line for a space, it's not hard that time of year.

No idea about Blackbeard.

Get to the ferry as early as you can it some time has a wait to get on up to 2 hours during mid day but that is not normal.

Look into Teach's Hole gift shop they have a small museum that is real nice and informative

Getting to Teaches Hole is a bit of a walk as there is no parking close by. It is located at Springers Point . If you have bicycles it is the best way to get to it . Located on loop Rd Go to Google maps it will show you . It is not far from the light house

I'll give you a Black Beard site to look at

In Ocracoke there are many small cemeteries to explore if you like the history. The lighthouse is quick and worth a look. The best thing is the beaches. Great ocean swimming for body and boogie-board surfing, warm water, no development on the shoreline - just dunes and water.

I am going to add something to your bucket list. :)

If you are interested in Blackbeard, you would enjoy the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, North Carolina. They have an excellent exhibit on Queen Anne's Revenge. I don't think you will be disappointed.
