north carolina winery tour around Mount Airy

Planning our get away for the summer while kids are at camp maybe trying out NC wineries & a visit to Mayberry - looking for input on things to do and wineries not to be missed. Any suggestions that are up to date?

Lots of wineries in the Yadkin Valley nearby - http://www.yadkinvalleywineries.com/

Downtown Mt. Airy is fun - don't forget to have a pork chop sandwich at Snappy Lunch but get there early or you will wait in a long line!

Check out the Surry Arts calendar for things going on - www.surryarts.org/main/displaypage.php…

Mayberry is a great little place to visit. You can visit Wally's station and Mayberry Courthouse, the granite plant is also interesting to see and you can watch them dig.IMHO Snappy Lunch was not that great, all the locals love it and recommend it for everyone to have lunch there. You will come out smelling of grease and the pork chop sandwich(tenderloin) was full of fat and hard to eat.
