Helen's Biscuits and other local favorites

As a 2-3 time a year visitor to the OBX for the last 6 years, I like to think I know a little about places to go while in Nags Head and KDH. I don't know anything about Helen's Biscuits that I read on another thread. What Exxon are ya'll talking about as having the best breakfast on the beach? Is it the one on the west side of the bypass across from the Ben Franklin?

Our house next month around MP 8.5, right in the middle of everything, directly next to the Oregon Ave Beach Access and Shutters. It is also just across the street from the Stop and Shop Exxon with their excellent deli sandwiches and great selection of snacks and "beverages."

So, does anyone have anymore local secrets? I am always looking for somewhere else to eat.

We enjoy Lucky 12 for pizza and that it is a PITTSBURGH place (and the kids like the pinball and pool), slice pizza, duck donuts, the pit's tacos and cabo pizza, the pier for breakfast and view, food dudes for takout, snowbird's ice cream, the black pelican, Front Porch for coffee, and Chip's Market for...

What else you got???

John's Drive -In for great shakes and dolphin sandwiches. It is on the beach rd in Kitty Hawk. You can check out their menu online and call ahead. Helen's is on the bypass right pass the ABC.

It is locally called Biscuits and Porn and it is the Citgo station next to the ABC store in Nags Head just south of Eighth St and the Harris Teeter. The biscuits are great!!

I don't think it's a secret but there are a few Duck Donuts locations, one in Kitty Hawk on the side road across from the Hilton Garden Inn. Not a wide selection but they are made fresh with your choice of glaze and toppings and they stayed fresh all day while we drove down to Hatteras and took the ferry to Ocracoke and back.

Thanks for the info. We check in Sunday, and I will be picking up biscuits for everyone bright and early Monday morning. Then I can swing back by Front Porch for a good cup of coffee to go with them. Thanks again.

It's the Citgo gas station next to the ABC store that is being rebuilt right now. Just south of Harris Teeter at Eight St mile post 10. West side of the bypass - Citgo Gas.

I think it might be an Exxon rather than a Citgo, but it is definitely MISS Helen's Biscuits, not just Helen's.

As often as I go there, it's a Citgo. And gas today is $3.39

I stand corrected on the brand of gas: http://citgo.mycstore.com/34438162

But I'm standing by Miss Helen's :)

Make plans to eat at Colington Cafe at least once. Make reservations early in the week or you will miss out.
