It's a good article, except the part about grocery shopping in Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head. The grocery stores there are mobbed also, and you'll spend the same amount of time in those stores as you will on Hatteras. If you want to avoid the grocery store nightmare, bring enough food for the first day or two.

I remember seeing a kid crying in the lobby one summer check-in day 3 or 4 years ago. Someone asked him what was wrong and he said, "Daddy brought his computer". I guess daddy spends too much time on the laptop and the kid wanted his attention on vacation. Many renters like to come with no phone or computer, but not all.

The article has a few good points, but then stops . . . felt like he was just getting started. And I was confused over the crab legs comment - it's not like Alaskan crab legs are fresh caught local food that everyone gets when at Hatteras. If he'd said shrimp, steamed crabs or tile fish, then it would make sense.
