Difference between museums

Hey there, hoping a local can help. I have a couple hours to spare in Fayetteville this weekend while my wife ziplines. I am looking forward to seeing some of the town, and I wanted to visit the Airborne & Special Ops museum. It seems like there are two different museums, both of which have been recommended. Can anyone help with how these two places compare/are related?

Thanks for the help!

The 82nd Airborne museum is on base. I guess it's open to the general public?

The Airborne and Special Ops museum is larger.

Both are significant and important collections. The one on base has military aircraft on exhibit.

It might depend on which is nearer where you are staying.

Right the 82nd Airborne is on post. You have to go in the public gate off Bragg Blvd, provide ID, registration, and have your vehicle searched before be allowed on post. It is open to the public.

I found the ASO much more interesting. The simulator is really fun.It is not on the post.

She loved it, even though it was a raw, cold rainy day. She had an excellent time, and for $79 I would highly recommend it. The staff was fun and professional and the scenery was beautiful.

Oh, also, the museum in Fayetteville is quite well done. The city is very pretty architecturally, but the quality of stores and shops in which to browse was quite lacking.
