Considering a trip and need some advice - I know nothing

I haven't started putting much time into looking, but we have 5 days for a quick getaway. We have considered NC as we want to buy some furniture (really, only a sofa). However, we are foodies (but love local places with great fresh fish/seafood), love driving vacations and want a mixture of relaxing, great seafood and beautiful scenery especially like the ocean. We do long days (early mornings and don't mind driving late nights). Where would be the best place for us to fly into? Is NC reasobale (I know you can probably spend a month there). What is the weather like usually the week before the long weekend in May? I am wondering if it's still cool, we might choose a more southern state. How do we begin to limit our sofa shopping choices? We don't want to spend three days looking for a sofa.

Based on this: "However, we are foodies (but love local places with great fresh fish/seafood), love driving vacations and want a mixture of relaxing, great seafood and beautiful scenery especially like the ocean" I'd recommend Charleston, SC. If you really want to stay in NC, look at Wilmington, NC.

If you're talking about Memorial Day weekend, both NC and SC will be plenty warm, likely hot. That's a very popular weekend at the beach.

Sorry can't help you with sofa shopping - not sure whether a trip to NC is worth just one sofa purchase.

Hi, Itryalot. I will kick the ball off here!

If you don't want to spend a lot of time on furniture shopping, I would recommend Furnitureland South in Jamestown, North Carolina (between Greensboro and High Point). It is huge. If you decide to go on a Saturday, call ahead and make an appointment with a salesperson.

The closest beach to there is Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington, NC. Wilmington is a lovely city to tour and the beach at Wrightsville is great.

Here are the average highs and lows for Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

The water will be on the cool side--but maybe not for you. :)

You might also really enjoy the Outer Banks.

If you want something warmer, you can check out Charleston, South Carolina. Beautiful city. Isle of Palms and Folly Beach are the beaches in that area.

Depending on where you decide to go and the ticket prices, you could fly into Charlotte, Raleigh or Greensboro,

If you love a beautiful mountain drive, consider the Blue Ridge Parkway between Asheville and Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

Hope this gives you a good start. You will get some additional good advice in this forum, I am sure!
