I think there are a few nice B&Bs not far from uptown- check in the Dilworth and Southend areas. There are lots of museums in uptown- Levine Museum of the New South, Discovery Place (science), and multiple art museums, plus the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The Epicenter is also in the heart of uptown- bowling, movies, restaurants. Not too bad of a drive to the west is the Whitewater center and on into Gastonia is the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. To the north, bugt not too far is the Reed Gold Mine (gives the history of the FIRST gold rush in the USA- shared by NC and GA). Then there is Latta Plantation and the Hezihiah Alexander Homeplace- very historical- and the Raptor Center- all in the northern part of the county.

Not cheap, but check this:

bedandbreakfast.com/charlotte-north-carolina…

I think you could sign up for specials.

www.moreheadinn.com/reservations.php…

You could also look into: Mathews, and SC Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Lancaster..

Examples:

bbonline.com/united-states/…

Kilbournie & Victorian Villa - but often booked for weddings & family reunions. Actually Morehead Inn - also popular with weddings...
