accommodations inquiry

On Jul. 21 - 23, a friend & I will be visiting friends who will be in South Bethany. We're looking for accommodations ($100 $ 150/night preferably) in South Bethany, Rehoboth, Bethany, or Fenwick Island.

2 questions:

1 - What hotels/b&b's are recommended?

2 - What area I listed above is most-preferred?

We'll have a car, so driving's no problem. We'd like to go to the beach & sight-see, as neither of us have been in Delaware, let alone South Bethany!

Thanks in advance for any & all assistance!

kathy - finding rooms in that price range for that time of year may be a challenge. Try the Fenwick Islander or the Sands Motel... both have rooms available for under $200/nt. You may find something in Rehoboth but I'm not very familiar with that area. Dewey Beach, which is just south of Rehoboth may be another option. I prefer Fenwick Island but the whole area is beautiful and has a lot to offer. You really can't go wrong. Enjoy!

Are you looking to pay $100 - $150 each, or in total? A weekend in the peak of summer is going to hard to find at that price if you mean total. I am most familiar with Rehoboth - The Pirate's Cove motel - an old-school, simple style motel on the edge of Rehoboth Beach is showing at $229/night. Your best bet at that price point may be to look for a room in someone's condo/house on airbnb.

My favorite area is Rehoboth for its balance of classic beach town atmosphere, kitchy boardwalk attractions, but also a variety of restaurants and fun bars for the evening (if you are looking for that!). But that is a bit of a drive from Bethany. Bethany and Fenwick are quieter (although still busy in peak season), very quaint, and family-oriented. Ocean City, MD is not my style, but is much bigger and so may just have a higher volume of properties available. The more northern neighborhoods of Ocean City are not far from Fenwick and Bethany.
