Parking near RR station in Schenectady

Thinking of taking Amtrak from Schenectady to Chicago. Spoke to Amtrak, they said they had a 30 car long term parking lot., but no assurances of open spaces and also an unsecured lot. Is there other parking lot/garages nearby that would suitable for a week?

Does one need to be concerned about vandalism/theft with parked cars in the area?

In advance, thanks.

There is a large parking garage a couple blocks away, near Proctors Theater ... you should be able to walk to the train station easily.

I don't believe that vandalism has been a problem there.

Why are you leaving from Schenectady and not Albany/Renssalear?

Thanks for the info. Leaving Schenectady allows us to depart a little bit later and is just as close for us.

Any compelling reason to leave from Albany? Thanks, again.
