Advice please

We have Old Oia house booked for a few nights in September.

It is our first time to Santorini and we'd like to explore the island.

We'd like to see the volcano. Would this be recommended for for first time visitors?

Or are we better off exploring Oia and its surroundings?

We won't have a car.

Cheers.

Our most expensive meal in Santorini was at Argos in Fira, which we still found reasonable at 90 euros with a bottle of wine and 3 course meal including seafood. Lunch can be as little as 10 euros for souvlaki pitas/drink or 30-40 euros for a sit down with a beer and house wine.

There are much more expensive restaurants as well, but we found we ate very well at modest prices. Staying with house wine over bottled can probably save about 20 euros/meal.

Here's the link to my blog where I go into (a lot!) more details on our meals and everything else we did!

Have a wonderful trip.

Thank you brotherleelove for the tip about grilled seafood being sold by weight.

Entering the caledera would be a dream come true, especially being able to view it from the open deck. Blue Star it is, I think! (too early to book anyhow).

We are contemplating whether to do the volcano, hot springs and Thirassia island day trip with Triantafillou Sailing on day 2 or 3. The duration of the day trip is 5 1/2 hours.

On our spare day, we hope to do the'Afternoon Tour of Traditional Villages with Sunset in Oia' tour, however Oia hotel pick up isn't on offer. We have e-mailed the tour company we think operates the tour (the tour was found on expedia), unless you know of tour operators that have similar tours??

Thank you for your blog and food reviews, JoDen. The photos are stunning!!

Cheers
