We have been to both with Thomson, they are both very similar, the Karamboa being a lot newer. On Sal the Garopa and Funana are right next to each other just like one big hotel. The flight to Sal is comfier as the runway is longer so you go on a bigger plane, not quite so cramped. I would recommend either of these to anyone, top class hotels, staff, food, comfort, cleanliness, value for money ......... they are lovely people living in a beautiful place :)

This may be a little late, but better late than never. Sal is a much busier island with more restaurants and established activities. If you are looking for busy days of chartered fishing, windsurfing, shopping and eating out with an active nightlife, Sal is more likely to satisfy your travel needs. If, however, you are looking for a quieter, isolated beach escape, Boa Vista is the place for you. There are a variety of hotels and restaurants, but there is also much more land and less people.

There are Riu hotels on both islands, but there are also smaller, more quaint places. I recommend Guest House Orquidea, Migrante Guesthouse or Marine Club Beach Resort on Boa Vista or Spinguera to really get away from it all.
