Passport?! "Rip-off City!"

$100 and MORE!! You mean to tell me that if I want to walk accoss the bridge to take pictures it will cost me maybe $125 for a passport?! I can get into Mexico for FREE!! I thought maybe a passport would be $18-$20 TOPS!! What a ripoff!!

Good thing I found this out before I booked rooms on the Canada side!

Rules for Mexico are the same. You need a passport, a passport card, or an "enhanced" driver's license from one of the few states that issue them in order to be able to return to the U.S. What made you think the rules were different for returning from Canada? When did you last go to Mexico?

That was long before 9-11. The U.S. changed the rules for everyone (including U.S. citizens) entering the country several years ago - you need a passport, passport card, enhanced drivers license or frequent traveller card.

BTW, you don't need a passport to enter Canada, your drivers license and photo ID is good. You need the passport to get back into your own country.

Well, 15 years ago, you could get back from Canada without a passport also. Your expectations are more than a decade out of date.

"Teeawanna"? Really? Well, at least in New York you can visit "Lackajuana" without a passport.

Fifty years ago I rode the subway for 15 cents! And I didn't need exact change!

A passport for Canada is pretty stupid, but you need to feed the natitional security industry. It is one of the few industries we have left.. I remember returning to Buffalo from Ontario around 2 a.m. (pre 9/11) and finding the immigration guy dozing in his little booth. When roused he sort of grumpily asked where were we from, and let us go.

Hi NewJerseyCyclist;

As mentioned above "the U.S. changed the rules".

I would suggest contacting your congressman.

Best Regards
