Hotel stay in Long Island - Hamptons

I am intending to stay for a month in Long Island this year. Somewhere in May or June. It would be two adults and two young kids (2 and 4). We are looking for something close to the beach and at least one seperated room for the kids. Really looking for a kind of resort place or even privately owned house or villa with pool.

Any suggestions?

On the Napeague stretch between Amagansett and Montauk are several resorts which might meet your needs, especially the Windward Shores. Others include the Hermitage and Ocean Vista. They are all on the beach. Most units include little kitchens. They are also all really expensive and none has a food source. So you will have to go into either of the two towns to eat. May will definitely be cheaper than June.

If you have never been to the Hamptons before, you will be amazed at how expensive even basic items are.

Friends of ours visit the Hamptons every spring/summer and stay for a couple of weeks at a hotel/rental complex called the Ocean Dunes in Amagansett, which is close to East Hampton and has its own outdoor pool and beach. You need to check this out very early in the year for May and June since the "regulars" reserve rooms literally years in advance! Check the Ocean Dunes web site.

you may want to keep in mind that it may not be very comfortable for outdoor swimming in May and poss into June. Resort with indoor pool may be better.
