My boyfriend and I will be going to New York City for about a week next week and we'd like to squeeze in a trip to Cooperstown since he is a huge baseball fan. I've done some research and there doesn't seem to be a bus or train that will take you directly from NYC to Cooperstown so we figure its best to just rent a car. We are from Los Angeles and our concern is driving in snow since neither one of us has ever driven in snow. Is it snowing heavily around the area and are chains necessary? Will a rental car company provide you with chains for the tires if the snow is heavy? Thanks!
