Ski Taos

Can anyone recommend where is best to stay to ski Taos?

I am looking for a pre christmas break but am not familiar with this ski area. I expect there are some good lodging deals to be had during early December?

Would like to stay close to the skiing, are there ski in/out accomodation here?

In anticipation, thanks.

There are several places right on the mountain. All are great and range in prices. The most-expensive and probably booked is The Bavarian- $300+ per night. Excellent food, right on the mountain, but definitely intimate.

The SnakeDance and the St. Bernard are excellent choices and more reasonable. Be sure to plan a stay in the town of Taos for your first night, as the altitude can be an issue for some flatlanders. The town is at 7000 feet versus 9000 in the ski valley. Just drink lots of water and avoid alcohol... at least until acclimated.

Snow is late this year, so even staying down in town doens't hurt and is a safe bet, should you need additional activities; be sure to check out the Taos Inn and the Kachina Lodge--both very authentic. And then there is the kitchy Laughing Horse B&B which is always a favorite.

Best of luck.
