Is a 6 Day Honeymoon in Taos Too Much?

I was in Taos several years ago in the late summer, and I am heading there for my honeymoon in Feb.

Is a 6 Day Honeymoon in Taos Too Much?

Will we get bored?

We're already booked there 3 days, and I'm wondering if we would need to change the scenery.

Need help FAST!

Thanks

I would think maybe the 3 nights in Taos and maybe another 3 nights in Santa Fe...... I guess it just depends on what you like to do sightseeing wise.

If you are skiers, then Taos would be the spot. If not, then maybe look for some other places to visit.

We spent our honeymoon in Santa Fe and Taos, and ended up moving here a few years later, so watch out, lol!

I ski, but she has never done it. I was thinking at least we would do some tubing and possibly snowboarding at Angel Fire or Red River.

Have you experienced any of this? Recommendations?

Wish I could help. I have not been skiing in many years. Hopefully someone else will post.

I think if you are planning to do some winter sports, some shopping, museums and relaxing, Taos may be a great place to be for 6 days! Maybe a spa or head over to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs for a soak etc....

Congrats on your upcoming marriage.

Since this isn't a ski trip, I would do half in Taos, half in one of the inns near the old plaza in Santa Fe.

Look at the recommendations for inns in old town in the girls getaway/Santa Fe post.

Congrats!

Tubing is available at Taos Ski Valley. The roads between Taos and Red River tend to be better immediately after a snow fall than driving over to Angel Fire.

There is also cross country skiiing and snow shoeing at The Enchanted Forest just up the hill from Red River. Lots of fun there with marked and groomed trails as well as warming huts.

Even during the winter a visit to the Wild Rivers recreation area for a picnic, stroll, or a hike, is a great thing to do. Hiking is ONLY required if you wish to go down in to the gorge. Not necessary though as the views are spectacular from the top.

Six nights is not to much, especially if you do as others have suggested and also visit Ojo Caliente, some museums, do some shopping, gallery hopping, Taos Pueblo, scenic drives, sleep late, etc. Taos has many great restaurants and you can easily visit two a day and not have to repeat any.

Have a great time!

My personal best is helping a first time visitor enjoy 5 nights and 6 days...when he only planned 1. In other words, the fun and length of stay depends upon you two's specific interests.

Taos offers - skiing and boarding at 4 different resorts with huge variety of terrain and ambience from small family owned/friendly Sipapu to european influenced Taos.

- Museums - half dozen in town museums plus others nearby with everything from arts, cultural, historic, native american, more.

- Galleries - something over 70 in town plus many more nearby with a wide ranging variety of styles, media, and fun.

- Snowmobiling - a couple local guide outfits will take you to the hills. Vast national forest areas to view and explore.

- hiking - many hiking trails although the snows are deep so care is advised.

- Day trip to Los Alamos and the Bradbury Museum with a side trip to Ojo Caliente hot springs.

- Taos Mountain Casino - if you feel the need for a small smoke free casino.

- The Enchanted Circle is Taos, Questa, Red River, Eagle Nest, Angel Fire, Taos. A 80 mile circle thru the Northern Central NM Mountains with shops sites, food etc. Stop at the Viet Nam Veterans memorial!

6 days of activities, no problema!
