Ngala ?

we are planning our first trip to africa for our honeymoon.

can anyone tell us what they thought of their time at ngala tented camp, which tent we should request if this would make a difference, and the best way to organise getting there? if you have been to other tented camps in this area we would be very interested to hear what you thought of other ones too.

thank you!

1. Re: Ngala ?

we just came back from 2 days at the Ngala lodge and 2 at the tented camp, both experiences are trupy wonderful!

The tented camp exists of 8 tents and it really does snot matter which tent: there is no difference! The food is fantastic. There are only 4 tents! At nighttime you are only allowed to walk back to your tent with one of the employees: lots of wild visitors: we saw an elephant outside of our tent at 3 am.. Not until you have beent here will you have experienced true 'darkness' at night! The stargazing is amazing!

As for getting there: fly to J'burg and take a small airplane to the Ngala airstrip: a fantastic way to start spotting wildlife even before you land! (and it sure beats a 6 hour drive up!)

The tracker + ranger working there (Mark and Sully) are very very good and have a very good sense of humor!

The walking definitely makes you feel like you are really experiencing the beauty of this untouched part of Africa! We will definetly remember some of our 13 (!) rhino encounters!
