Please Help! Safari for late November.

We are a family of 5 adults, and kids (ages 10, 11,11) travelling in late November. Have gotten wide variety of quotes from Djuma, Kirkman's, Inyata safaris. We are looking for advice on which one (or even another safari) that would provide us the best experience while keeping the costs appropriate for what we are getting.

Kirkman's is 40% more in cost, is it worth it?

Should we consider another safari that would be a better use of our money?

Hi there!

As these lodges are all within the Sabi Sabds, the pricing will reflect what is marketed as a luxury reserve.

Whichever lodge you choose here will give you a wonderful experience.

Unless there is a specific reason to go for Kirkmans (i.e you like the colonial charm), the wildlife viewing will be similar at all three options, as Sabi Sands has a high density of game. Djuma is a very popular option, offering a good value traditional experience.

As your trip is very soon, I would encourage booking as soon as possible, as these lodges do fill up quite quickly. In regards to pricing, have you tried to ask the lodges for a discount? They are all most certainly able to often one, especially considering your large group.

Some other options to look at that are good value for families (although, due to the close proximity to travel time, I am not sure if these lodges will have availability):

- Gomo Gomo Game Lodge (Klaserie Reserve, Greater Kruger)

- Elephant Plains (Sabi Sands Reserve, Greater Kruger)

- Kambaku Safari Lodge (Timbavati Reserve, Greater Kruger)

As I say though, the lodges you have chosen are top notch, and any of them will give your family a great experience in terms of wildlife, food, hospitality etc.

Warm regards

If they were all the same price, which one would be the best to stay at in terms of location, lodge and animal viewing.

Inyati is one of my very favourite lodges.

Rangers and game viewing are great and I love the atmosphere there.

I agree with Mark.

If you are referring to Inyati Lodge in Sabi Sand I would choose it, although I am sure any of the three will be wonderful. We have stayed right 'next door' and have traversed the same land many times and the game viewing is always fantastic.

We have often stopped in the river at Inyati to view herds of elephant and have seen them wandering the lawns. The whole western sector has wonderful game viewing and right now it is spectacular with wild dog puppies and lots of lion and leopard cubs.

However you choice may be determined by availability, have you checked? The most popular lodges book well in advance.

Hi neetapitt,

I just picked up on the thread.

Djuma is self catering in the Northern Sabi Sands so logistically is probably not an option. Between Kirkmans and Inyati, my choice is Inyati. Better value, and you'll have a great safari experience. It is also a smaller lodge than Kirkmans.
