short stop in Las Cruces

Hi Guys

As suggested from Octoboy, we will make a stop in Las Cruces during our trip from Fort Stockton to Alamogordo

probably we will arrive here in the early afternoon for lunch and we have a couple of hours for a walk in the city.

Wich zone could you suggest us? What we can visit?

Thanks a lot

Omar

Old Mesilla could be an option?

The New Mexico Heritage and Farm Center in Las Cruces is very interesting. It covers the whole state, and the displays and the walk-through of what New Mexico was like many years ago, before statehood. Larvge museum, and a lot to see outside, also.

Agree that Mesilla is interesting. Some shops around the plaza, and the Church is quite interesting. If you are planning on being in Alamogordo in the afternoon though, I would by-pass Las Cruces, as it is shorter to take US 54 from El Paso directly north to Las Cruces.

If you are planning lunch in Las Cruces, I would suggest La Posta for your meal. Authentic New Mexican food and a nice atmoshphere.

Thanks a lot

I know that make El Paso - US54 - Alamogordo is Fastest rather than El Paso - LAs Cruces - 70 - Alamogordo, but the problem is that we would like to make a stop in a nice palce from fort Stockton to alamogordo...and las Cruces seems the nicest :)

Is it Wrong?

Las Cruces is a nice city for a stopover. I would stay in Old Mesilla, dining at La Posta . Interesting historic area. http://www.oldmesilla.org
