Newbie to Seminyak

We (50yo's) have been to Bali a few times and always stay at Tegal Sari in Ubud then Besahki in Sanur, However, this time travelling with our 20yo son thought we might try Seminyak but know nothing of the area or accommodation recommendations. We like good food (warung style) not interested in upmarket shopping quite like the beach. Looking for up to $200 per night. Is Seminyak for us?

Check out the puri saron! Similar budget and style to the besahki! Right near the bean bag beach bars and in between double 6 and dyana pura so plenty of cheaper restaurant options!

You might like to have a look at the Pearl hotel. It is adults only and in a great area and well within your budget.

Hi there. You say you are not interested in upmarket shopping and like warung-style food, then I would suggest that maybe Seminyak is not for you. While there are some wonderful warungs in Seminyak (Warung Ocha comes straight to mind) Seminyak is upmarket with its food and its shops. I am thinking that maybe Legian may be more to your liking. The Pearl Hotel is a good suggestion. Sari Beach Hotel may also be to your liking. It's beachfront, small, Balinese boutique-style, amazing tropical gardens, great breakfast and in a fab location. It's well within your budget.

Thank you for your help TA peeps. Have decided to go with Pearl Hotel for a few nights after our usual mini break in Ubud at the Tegal Sari and can't wait. 9 more sleeps.

Do be aware of the scratch card timeshare touts in Seminyak (a winner every time). If you see someone on a moped stop and wish you good morning, keep walking. The Viagra touts are also bothersome, don't rise to them.

The Pearl is a lovely hotel, have fun.

Haha HNB!! I have managed to steer clear of the timeshare touts in Bali and in Thailand. Now make sure to avoid the Viagara ones too!! Not bragging on hubby's behalf but not needed. Lol!
