We will be in Franschhoek on the 31st December, 1st and 2nd January and want to pack in as much as possible. We are staying at Auberge Clermont which I think is south of the town. We would like suggestions for wine tours/tastings and other not to be missed experiences so we don't waste time driving/wandering around. We have a car but for late afternoon tastings and dinner we would prefer not to drive.
On the 31st we shall probably arrive at our lodgings at about 14H00 so have few hours to kill before the evening. Unfortunately we have been unable to get a dinner reservation as yet so any ideas for a decent meal and lively place to spend NYE would be welcome.
On the 1st January we have dinner booked for 19H30 at Grande Provence and thought about a tasting there at 18H00/18H30 (not sure how long these things take). We are aware it's New Year's Day and some estates may be closed but would welcome good suggestions for this day including if possible chocolate tastings.
On 2nd January we have to be at Cape Town Airport for 20H30 so have all day really. We have a lunch reservation at Le Bon Vivant at 1.30. What can we fit in before and after this and where might we stop for dinner between Franschhoek and the Airport.
We are willing to get up early for breakfast and start exploring! All suggestions welcome and could you tell me if we should make reservations for tours and tastings? Many thanks.
