Addo to Graaf Reinet is an easy drive along good quiet roads. Shouldn't take much more than two and a half hours.

From GR to Outdshoorn depends which way you go. The quickest is down the N9 as far as the R341 to De Rust and then to Oudtshoorn. You could certainly do this in three and a half hours.

Alternatively you could turn off the N9 at Willowmore onto a gravel road (R407). This road travels along underneath the Swartberg Mountains through empty Karoo country. So empty that when we drove this road a couple of months ago, in 93km we didn't see a single car and only three people!! This is the real Karoo. When you reach the N12 you have two more choices. Head south through the spectacular Meiringspoort Pass to De Rust and Oudsthoorn. or continue west along the R407, now closer to the mountains towards Prince Albert and then come into Oudtshoorn by crossing over the Swartberg Pass. The most spectacular pass in South Africa and the highest in the southern half of the country. The Swartberg is a gravel road but in reasonable weather is no problem in a normal saloon car.

These routes obviously take quite a bit longer. Add 40mins for the R407 and Meriringspoort and probably another two hours if you do the Swartberg Pass.
