Cruise & Post-Cruise Advice

We will be traveling to Newark in mid-June to sail from Cape Liberty. We are considering staying at the Country Inn & Suites which has free shuttle from the Newark airport. They have a shuttle for $70 roundtrip for 2 people to and from the cruise terminal. We have a family of 4, so that would be a bit pricey for us. Do you have recommendations for a cheaper way to get to the terminal?

Also, we might stay a day or two post-cruise in New Jersey. Any ideas for what to do? We spent a week last summer in NYC and had a great time. If we decide to spend a day in NYC again, what is the most economical way to travel from Newark into NYC? We don't mind using public transportation (bus, train); we are school teachers and try to travel as frugally and cost-efficient as possible.

Any tips, hints will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to visiting your area.

There is plenty to do in new jersey. As for the cruise I would sugest looking into amcar service. Airbrook is a decent company in that area.
