thanksgiving

we are an Australian family coming to the US for three months starting oct 9. we are looking at coming to NYC for thanksgoiving and seeing the parade. I haven't been able to find any where to stay in Manhatten for under $400 and night, so I was thinking of booking a place in Jersey City. Our kids are 6 and 9. Where is the bast place to stay with the kids. Is the PATH safe for them? I was thinking the Holland Motor Lodge, but now I'm not sure.

Any tips or hints?? We are thinking of staying a week or so

Thanks

1. Re: thanksgiving

If you're doing just the day time thing, the Holland Motor Lodge is your best bet, not the nicest or even the cleanest, but it's a good value for what you'll be paying. It's a 15 mintue walk to the Newport/Pavonia PATH station through the mall. The PATH is safe 24 hours a day as long as you are observant of your surroundings. The walk back at night can be dicey though.
