When you go, bring a couple carved jack-o-lanterns with tea light candles -- if everyone who went to see the festival helped contribute to it, there wouldn't be any question about setting another world record.

Hi I am neeeing some information on the best way to get to Keene NH from Boston. Is there a bus, train,or some sort of travel deal for this year's festival (2014)? I would appreciate any help. Also which hotel is closest to the festival? Thank you all.

There are two downtown hotels, the Lane, which is on Main Street in a restored turn of the century building. A very nice place. Reserve through Choice Hotels. There is also a new Courtyard by Marriott, a short block off Main. Make your reservation early.

As for public transportation, you are probably out of luck. Check Peter Pan Bus. They may still have a bus through Brattleoro, VT, but even if they do, I am not sure you can get it from Boston. The closest you can get is a bus to Manchester, Nashua or Concord, NH. There may be a private airport shuttle that goes to Keene, but it will be by appointment and probably very costly. Rent a car. And, consider flying into Manchester, NH or Hartford, CT/Springfield, MA (Bradley International). A lot less traffic, easier driving getting out and to Keene, short lines at check in, etc.

Have a look at the Keene State College transportation webpage:

www.keene.edu/aboutksc/transportation.cfm

It lists Greyhound. Boston to Keene is possible, but it's a 10 hour trip with a transfer! It would give you a nice little tour of NH--except that the one trip a day is overnight! A couple of private shuttle services are also listed on that webpage.

However, I agree with NextStopIs that renting a car is the best approach, and flying into Manchester and renting the car there will make it much easier.

There are also two B&Bs within a two or three minute easy walking distance of the festival.
