Daytime activities for non-hikers?

We'll be at Harrah's, Lake Tahoe in early August for 3 full days. Looking for some day trips available in the area, and other non-physical activities (hiking / biking not an option). Enjoy browsing shops and visiting interesting sites.

We don't plan to have a rental car, but may consider one if necessary.

Nights we'll likely be in the casino, but need suggestions how to fill the daytime hours.

Zephyr cove is a few miles up the lake. When were stayed there in 2008, there were buses that brought people in from Stateline. I do not know if they still have them or not.

Zephyr cove has different day cruises (paddle wheeler, sailboat, etc...) you can book along with other activities. There is another paddle wheeler that cruises out of South Lake Tahoe, CA as well.

It appears that the BlueGO bus system still has a route to Zephyr cove (Route 22).

The people getting off the bus from the stateline area are those that have booked a lake cruise that leave from Zephyr Cove- MS Dixie II and perhaps the Tahoe Queen? They provide transportation as part of your booking. These cruises are a good activity for your situation. The Heavenly Village is fun area to stroll around and look in the shops. You can also take the Heavenly Tram to the top for some great views of the Lake- located very very close to Harrah's.

I might also recommend that you stop in at the concierge desk at Harrah's which is located just across from the hotel check in area. You will find help in activities and also find lots of information about what to do and what apeals to your tastes.
