Well, I can only give you my own opinion, of course, and my list is going to be swayed by where in Reno I live, but my favorite "local" spots are:

Breakfast: Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs

Happy Hour: Bistro Napa in the Atlantis, Chocolate Bar (Summit Sierra)

Steakhouses: Harrah's, Atlantis

Vietnamese: Golden Flower

Chinese: Caie's

Italian: Campo, La Famiglia

Fancypants dinner out: Bistro Napa in the Atlantis

Mexican: Los Compadres for sit down, Super Taqueria for takeout

Casual: Sully's in Tamarack Junction

Tarrytown, New York

We do Chi chinese at the Pepp on almost every trip. But I'm not a local.

Since locals go to the ball games, the mex place at the stadium is on my list to try soon(on game nights).
