Taxis

Are taxis easy to find in the evenings after shows? Are there Taxi stands or do you have to flag them down or call for one? As I am staying at the Marriott over at the covention center and traveling solo I have decided taxis are the way to go in the evenings. Thanks for your input.

After shows the line for taxis will be very long. Taxi's will be lined up to pick up. You will have to stand in line with all the others leaving the show. Each hotel has a taxi line. There are no "taxi stands" and you can not flag one down in the street, it is illegal.

You can't hail a taxi on the street. After the show you go to the taxi stand to get one. Of course, 1,000 or more people who just left the same show will be doing the same thing. :)

Placebets: a "taxi stand" is what we call that thing where the guy waits to whistle up a taxi for you.

IrishFan - that's not what all of us call it.

We call it "that thing where the guy waits to whistle up a taxi for you."

Basically, the answer is YES. They will be in a certain area of each resort/hotel, and know when shows end. If in a quandary, ask the desk at that resort/hotel, which exit to use, to get a cab - plenty will be lined up, just waiting for you.

Good luck, and enjoy,

Every hotel has a Taxi Stand. They should be off the lobby or hotel check in/out. Signage will direct you where to go.

Depending on what hotel you're at, I've had good luck getting a taxi nearest the sports book. Always a steady flow of drinkers that need a taxis.

As placebet said, you cannot flag down a taxi.

If the line at the taxi stand (aka, that thing where the guy waits to whistle up a taxi for you) is too long, you might walk or take a tram or something to the next-door casino, and use the next-door casino's taxi stand. But the next-door casino probably has a show getting out at the same time, so that will usually not work!

Trust me, you won't have any difficulty finding the taxi line. Last April I saw Andrew Dice Clay one night and Penn and Teller the next and each time I was in line for well over 10 minutes. It's not because there is a shortage of cabs, it's because 500 other people want a cab at the exact same time you do.
