Where to Eat Cheap Near Paris Hotel

My wife and I are going to stay at the Paris Oct 10-14. Where are some good walking distance places to eat. I mean like Burger King, McDonalds, and other cheap places. We don't want to spend 20 bucks a plate or more at every meal, it will eat up all of our cash. I have heard that the Ellis Island casino, located behind the Paris, off the strip has a good steak special, but is it safe to walk over there. I have heard from a lot of folks not to leave the strip. Is it safe enough for me to walk to the Hard Rock or Ellis Island without having to worry about being mugged or my wife being raped or something? If we were to eat every meal at the Paris, we would be broke, quick. Its pricey from what I saw.

Also, what is the best way to get from one end of the strip to the other. We want to see Fremont St. on one day, which is 7 miles from the hotel, but want to see the Luxor on another day as well, which is 3 miles in the opposite direction. Cab fare will add up to quick. Does the strip trolley go to Fremont St? Am I better off taking the monorail everywhere?

Finally, we wanted to run over and see the Pussycat Dolls as they are right across from our hotel, but if that means we have to stand in line at PURE and pay a huge cover charge then screw it. We are not nightclub people and want to avoid the Pure scene, but want to see the PCD show. Is it possible to skip the line and crowd at Pure and just go to the PCD lounge without the huge line and cover?

Thanks for all of your input.

I have stayed at Paris several times. My favorite treat is the $13.95 prime rib special at the Victorian Room (Barbary Coast). It is so delicious, and it comes with soup or salad and potato. They also have great breakfast specials in the middle of the night for a couple of dollars that my husband likes. Barbary Coast also has a great free show Mon-Thurs-Big Elvis 3-6 pm.

There are several spots in the Desert Passage (next door) which are good. I have heard Max's has great deals (and it looks quite nice), but I have not gone yet. Also, in a mere 4 weeks, my husband and I will be trying Ellis Island. It is behing Bally's (connected to your hotel). Previous posters say it is a safe walk during day or early evening hours. You could always take a cab if you are concerned.

Have fun!

I forgot to add that the Monte Carlo Brew Pub has decent food, good atmosphere, and great beer!

Here is the best tip you are going to get. Walk over to Bally's Sidewalk Cafe. The food is very good, some of the best you will get in town, very inexpensive, and the menu selection is huge.

The walk to Ellis Island is perfectly safe, even at night. I've done it at all times of the day/night and many times.

It is not 3 miles to the Luxor from Paris. You can easily walk it or take the bus or the monorail. I would guestimate it at 1/2 mile.

The strip bus goes all the way to Fremont St., and I think it is worth visiting. You will either love it or hate it there. I personally love it. It is very different than the strip and all the casinos are close together and easy to walk to.

To save money on meals I would suggest taking full advantage of the breakfast buffets, then having a snack in the evening. Paris has a really good buffet with made to order crepes. I was also pleasantly surprised by how good the Flamingo breakfast buffet was. If you are there on a Sunday go to the $9.99 champagne brunch downtown at the Main Street Station.

Also check out restaurant.com for coupons. There are many $25 coupons off a $35 tab. If you search you can find the 50% off code and get the coupon for only $5.

There;s a Mcdonalds up the street near Harrahs and a Denny's, we have eaten breakfast there at Denny's and it was very good., but I'm sure you will find several places along the strip that will serve the purpose and not cost alot of money. For transportation I would use the Duece ( a double decker bus) it runs up and down the strip and downtown, its only $5.00 per person and thats for 24 hrs., you can get off and on anywhere you like.

You will like the Paris Hotel,we stayed there last year, and had a beautiful view of the Balleigo fountains.

As for the PCD show, I can't help you there, mabe someone else will read this that will be able to give you that info.

Good Luck and have a good time.

Bally's is right next door to paris and if you go down the escalator at bally's you'll find a little pizza place and a sandwich place you can try.

I second the bally's cafe though. Very good food and priced right.

Paris has a snack bar/deli that won't break the bank. Go down the escalators at Bally's (near the Sidewalk Cafe) and there's a pizza joint (Sbarro's?) and a deli as well, near the Ballys sports book. Plenty of cheap eats near Paris, just keep your eyes open.

Definitely give the Ellis Island $4.95 steak special a try. You will be perfectly safe walking there. There is a fast food court at Monte Carlo across the street and south just a little ways from Paris. NYNY has a great food court too. I love the atmosphere there.

Luxor is NOT 3 miles from Paris. Go out of Paris and turn left. Go to MGM, cross over LV Blvd. on the pedestrian walkway to NYNY, go left again and cross over Tropicana to Excalibur. At Excalibur you can catch a free monorail to Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

There are also free shuttles that you can take to some off strip properties where the eats are cheaper.

Keep your eyes open for the free magazines that are around for coupons. Some to look for are 24/7, What's On, etc. If you take a cab from the airport there will be coupons in the cab and possibly some in the lobby at Paris although I don't know as I've never stayed there. You can also print coupons at this site:

http://www.vegas4locals.com/coupons.html

I can't help you with the PCD question either. Have fun! We will be arriving in Vegas on the 14th.

Cheap buffet that is halfway decent, Palms

Take shuttle from Barbary coast to Gold coast, Palms is across the street

Any buffet ,eat at 2 pm..lunch is cheaper, same food as dinner, you can get a top quality buffet at $17, less for moderate priced,

and not have to eat the rest of the day. Harrahs and TI buffets are moderately priced and have been revamped recently. MonteCarlo and Luxor also decent at good price

if you miss lunch and are feeling hungry, head for Palms $12 for dinner...if you find the magazine coupon for Rio buffet $5 off, use it at lunch to get a great top quality spread for $12 net
