Hard Rock Hotel if you're over 40

I am starting to second guess our reservation at the HRH in May. We got a great deal @$95 /nt. We have already stayed at the Mirage(several times), TI(several times), Venetian, Aladdin, Monte Carlo, and MGM. We don't spend a lot of time in our rooms so we usually just try to find the best deal. We thought this would be a fun hotel, but some of the reviews for this hotel suggest that those over 40(we are 43,44,and 42) would not like this hotel. We consider ourselves to be fun (at least us girls - to guys not as much) and relatively cool(at least according to my teenagers) and we really are music afficionados. I'm a little concerned about the pool scene. Will those Barbie and Ken doll types completely outnumber us women for whom gravity has not been nice? I would love to hear some input on this. Thanks.

It is a known fact HRH pool is the place to be seen with drop dead bodies and oversized breast implants. If that makes you uncomfortable, well!

You will be outnumbered, but every party needs a few chaperones ;-). If you're happy being around all the barbies and Kens you'll have fun. If they make you feel uncomfortable around them you might want to consider another hotel. You got a real nice hotel for a real good price. If you don't want to hang out there during the day, don't. Plenty of other casinos will be happy to take your money. But you won't be able to use their pool.

I did not like the atmosphere at the HRH....a little too young for me.

I'm also fortysomething, attractive and relatively cool also, IMHO, but couldn't relate to the crowd there at all. Hubby hated it, breast implants and all! LOL

Thanks for the input. I am a realistic 42 yr old. The Ken and Barbie doll types will actually give me and my friend Sindy a lot to talk and laugh about at the pool. I'm sure we will give them enough to whisper about too. What rooms and in which area of the hotel should we ask for our rooms to be located? Are there many $5 tables in their casino and are they hard to get on? Also, any info on their spa? I usually treat myself when I'm in LV. Thanks.

A good friend of mine is 45, and she loves to stay at the HRH, and travels by herself there often.

She is an Ann Taylor kind of gal, not a Bebe kind of gal. She doesn't try to act like she is 25, she isn't a barbie girl, and knows she never will be--confidence to boot. She jokes, yes the pool is a bit intimidating at first, but really everyone is so busy checking out themselfs, she almost feels invisable :) And she says she gets great service poolside. She sometimes splurges on a caban for herself, she says they are tucked into little tropical landscaped nooks, and provied a little privicy away from the meat market.

She loves the rooms, the food and the casino. She doesn't mind the beautiful people, and had never felt snubbed by anyone, guest or employee, for not fitting into the demographic.

This isn't your first and only trip to Vegas, why not give it a try?

I stayed at the Hotel in July last year. I consider myself to be a well kept girl and I was totally intimidated to go out to the pool. I had never seen so many great looking, buff bodies in one place in my life. Be advised also that it is not only ken and barbie world but also a major fashion show. Most women parade around in barely there bikinis in 4" stillitos. ----Once I got over my initial intimidation (and had a few drinks!) I had a great time though. I think you'll be fine as long as your comfortable with being surrounded by that type of crowd-people get pretty crazy too. You also got a great price for the room-they're pretty spacious and nicely (more contemopary) decorated. The place gets pretty noisy though. Hope this helps.

I don't think you'll find any $5 tables at night. I'm not sure they have any during the day. The casino isn't very large, and the pit and bar area is jammed at night. The slot area is a little more open, but still more crowded than a Strip place. If you expect it to be anything like the places you stayed on the Strip, you're in for a big surprise.
