What is no bust BlackJack? Do they have it anywhere in Vegas?

Never heard of it. Can't imagine any casino in their right mind would take away their advantage.

I saw it advertised in card player magizine. They have it Ocean's Eleven Casino in California. I was wondering what it was.

Sahara used to have it, just called an they still have this game. It's called 21st Century 21 (Or Blackjack). If you go over 21, you don't really bust, you lose if the dealer has a lower total than you. If you go over 21 and the dealer has a higher total than you, you don't win any money, but they don't take your bet either.

Thanks VM, they must change some other rules also to make up for the no bust rule.

Blackjack probably pays even money.

...so in other words, in this Sahara game, the only difference in terms of a player advantage is that if the dealer busts with a higher total than your bust total, then it's a push. That probably suckers a lot of people into taking ill-advised hits on 12 and 13.

No Bust 21 is big in California's card clubs. It has been a long time since I've played it, but if memory serves:

There is still a 3:2 for a natural.

They also have two jokers in the deck. A Joker plus any card is a natural. 2 jokers is some kind of a jackpot

Drake, I don't know if it "suckers" some people into making foolish hits, but it should change the basic strategy somewhat. It is too much work for me to do the statistical analysis on it, but changing the consequences of a bust certainly would impact the best strategy.

Mike -- I agree with you that the "no bust" rules require statistical analysis to really determine the best strategy in potential bust situations. Too much work for me, too. Gotta figure most players are flying blind on that score, which can only benefit the house.

I'm much more interested in the Diamond BJ at Stardust (that VM explained here) that only pays even money on blackjacks (except double diamond bj), but has very loose rules for splitting and doubling down, among other things.
