Great Mexican Food in Vegas...is there such a thing?

I'll be in Vegas from Sept 14 - 17 and would love to get a great mexican meal. I've been to the Border Grill at the Mandalay, but that is more TexMex. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

there's a mexican restaurant at the Orleans that's pretty good.

I forget the name of it though.

Vegas is like ANY other city. You can find great food.....ANY kind of food.....you want!! Now it may not be on the Strip though.

One of the best in the country is here called Lindo Michoacan.

www.lindomichoacan.com

Don't look for this or any other good mexican food place on the strip, because they don't exist. What you find on the strip is typical american ground beef rilloed up in a tortilla or that other fake stuff called Tex-Mex.

Lindo's is the real stuff, inexpensive, best margaritas around, and inexpensive. Check the menu, bet yu don't have these selections at home.

If you want to settle for GOOD perhaps try the Isla in the TI.

No, there's really not. Of course I'm used to the best as ex-spouses of my family members remain close friends for the sole purpose of being able to visit my grandmother and eat her fantastic Mexican meals, so I probably have a higher standard than those that think they know Mexican food so well. All the typical Mexican menu items (tacos, burritos, etc.) are flavorless at Lindo Michoacan. They do have a pretty extensive menu, which is usually not a good sign, but the entrees are a little better. The bacon-wrapped shrimp is pretty good, but Guadalajara, a horrible restaurant at the station casinos, actually has a much better version. Everyone's going to suggest Lindo Michoacan, so that's where you'll inevitably end up. They also have Viva Michoacan where they don't mess up orders as often, and it's much roomier and cleaner, but Lindo has that cool dirty Mexican vibe. But really, don't expect this to be one of the "best in the country". It's far from it. Do you know exactly what you want to eat? Every Mexican place in town only has one or two good menu items.

For those Mexican food lovers with a hangover while in Vegas, there is actually a buffet that serves menudo. I believe it was the Green Valley Ranch ???

Hey now... nothing wrong with Tex-Mex if that's what you're going for! :)

But I agree, Lindo's was very good, worth the drive off the strip for sure.

I always find it a bit amusing that people look for "real" mexican food. If you've ever been to Mexico, the quality of the "real" food there is a step or two below what you find in the States. Also, in non-tourist areas in Mexico it is recommended that you not drink the water and uncooked vegetables in order to prevent illness.

Thus if you are looking for "real" Mexican food in the USA you should be looking for places that may give you Montezuma's revenge.
