Vegas in January

HI all,

Making my 4th vegas trip in January, however I have never been at that time of year, Is there anything I should be aware of? I understand it is cold partiuclarly at night, and obviously pools etc may not be open but does the rest of the city pretty much carry on as usual?

I go quite regularly in Jan avoiding CES , Other than CES it is pretty quiet. The shows that stayed open over new year may be closed for a break before CES. LV hit 23F last Jan. Yes other than that LV carrys on as usual. Ceasars and Bellagio may have a pool open in a sun trap corner, maybe others you could find on a TA search.

Las Vegas is a year round destination. Just because it's not pool weather doesn't mean the city shuts down or isn't busy. Things of note in January, depending on when you visit, could be 2 very large conventions. Check the convention calendar for your dates:

There are also NFL playoff games going on and that brings some people to the sportsbooks, and Martin Luther King Holiday on the 20th January will mean a 3-day weekend for some so might be increase in crowds that weekend.

Coming from the Midwest, I love going to Vegas in January. Last time there it was a balmy 55F and I had to lol when I pulled up to the valet in my golf shirt and shorts and noticed the employees all were wearing parkas.

It's pretty much the same with different weather and no pools. Great hiking season!

I definitely agree with Greeke, coming from Chicago, Vegas is actually a nice "warm" respite from winter in January. It's definitely a little quieter than other times of year, but in many ways, that is nice. And as you can imagine, Vegas "quieter" is a great time. Just bring layers, the temperature fluctuations are pretty wide, especially with the sun warming you up during the day.

It snowed the last time I was there in January. Weather could be most anything. Likely it will be cool during the day and cold at night. But not really frigid any time.
