Flamingo or Mirage

I am going to LV in the end of June and taking my kids (15 daughter and 12 son). We are looking for a good location with an awesome pool. I can get about the same rate for both (within $15) so price is not the issue. I would also like suggestions on places near either to eat fairly reasonably.

15 & 12 may get bored at Mirage, but it is nice. If you can afford Mirage, the kids will love Mandalay Bay. (beach and wave pools are great) The Flamingo's pool is nice, but there is very little else to do for the kids. MGM and Luxor have the best arcades for the kids and the MGM has the big lazy river pool. Luxor is next to Mandalay and Excalibur. Excal has large arcade. If the 12 boy likes sports, NYNY has a big ESPN ZONE game room.

As to eating near the Mirage, there are good cafes in the casinos if you do not want the buffets. Lot of places like "Fat Burgers" fast food around also.

For such a great price, give the Mirage a try. Forum shops are right next door, they have a Cheesecake Factory and either a Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Cafe there. Take the tram from Mirage to TI next door, there is a fast food court at the Fashion Show Mall across the street from TI.

We'll be there the end of June as well. We've always loved the Mirage. We're bring our 9-year old daughter. The pool there is great - they have a smaller pool with water slides as well!

Your kids will like this hotel, as they have the Secret Garden and the dolphins. Across the street at The Venetian you can take them to the wax museum and eat at the Grand Lux Cafe. This is a smaller version of the Cheescake Factory (same owners/company) and has a great menu!

Across the street is Denny's and McDonalds. I believe there's also a Subway sandwich shop as well.

I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for all of the advise. It looks like Mirage is the place for us.

your making the right decision on choosing the mirage over the flamingo if price is close. we have stayed at both and both do have nice pools but after that theres no comparison. the mirage is much nicer. we will stay at the flamingo only if there is a large difference in price.
