Low Rise Condo-Type Resorts w/Courtyard Pool(s)

The more we look at the big hotels the more we think we might be happier in a smaller place. On most trips we rent private houses or condo/apartment style units. I have seen a couple mentioned here and there in Las Vegas ( Flamingo Bay and Desert Rose). Is anyone familiar with these...or similar...properties?

We like a true bedroom and kitchen, with nice furnishings and an attractive heated pool/courtyard area. We will be doing some antiquing around town and visiting a few historic and scenic attractions. With a car we figure we can drive to any shows and casinos we want to visit. (Not the major focus of our trip, but something we enjoy in small doses.)

The Holiday Inn (Desert Club Resort) might meet your needs.

Wyndham Grand Desert...smoke free, casino free, beautiful courtyard with pools, hot tubs, fire pit, etc, units have full kitchen, 1 or 2 bedrooms, washer/dryer, etc, free shuttle to Harrahs, or you walk to strip (Planet Hollywood area) in about 10-15 minutes.

We stayed here for a week last February and loved it!!! It is a time share type resort, but we were never approached at all by anyone throughout the week. (we do not have a time share, we just rented it like a hotel room).Very friendly staff.

We stayed at Desert Rose earlier this year and it was great. We were in a 2 bedroom suite that had a kitchen, living room and dining area. They provided free breakfast daily and happy hour a few nights a week. There is also free internet. Location is great, right behind Tropicana and MGM.

Is Desert Rose filled with partiers? I was considering it for our last trip but then saw some reviews talking about party animals everywhere and then got worried about how trashed the place might be.

Why not just use tripadvisor and look at the rentals instead of hotels. They have a wide selection.

We're going to Las Vegas in the next few days and have booked at the Platinum Resort and Spa--condo type place with full kitchens, balconies, no casino and no smoking. Haven't stayed here before so can't comment yet. You might see if this looks interesting to you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I made a reservation at Desert Rose, which sounds like it meets most of our wish list. Our trip is in early March and it is one of the few places with a heated pool and hot tub open year round. Others open later in March, or are open but not heated. The weather probably won't be warm enough for lounging poolside, but I can enjoy a swim regardless.

This is only a 3 day stay. I have used vrbo and TripAdvisor listings in other locations. They are usually private rentals with a cleaning fee and/or security deposit and I just didn't want to go that route for a short vacation.
