Thinking of taking 70 year old mother to Las Vegas any ideas

I'm thinking of taking my 70 year old mother to Las Vegas. What suggestions do you have for things to do besides gambling. She is not a gambler. Probably be for 4 days March-May 2013.

I suggest you talk to your mother. Show her the options, let her decide what appeals to her.

Her age is irrelevant, her tastes are. Just like everyone your age doesn't have the same tastes, neither do 70 yr olds.

Once you know what she likes you can ask here 'where is X ". Why do you think strangers who have no idea what your mom likes are the best to ask for ideas. Surely someone knows your mom better than any of us.

It's fruitless to ask such an open-ended question of strangers who have no idea what your mother enjoys.

I am older than your mother. Besides gambling I enjoy spas, golf, tennis, a wide variety of shows including Vinny F, Carrot Top, Cher, Elton, Santa Fe, great restaurants, most of the museums and walking early mornings. HTH

David, I am 71, go to Vegas by myself 2-3X a year. But my favorite form of entertainment is playing the slots. So my idea of a fun time in Vegas probably would not be your moms

But i also love wandering up and down the strip (if you are staying on the strip?) seeing the different casinos, enjoy some of the shows,

I really don't do the spas, but if the pool is open she may enjoy spending some time there. Plus if she enjoys nice restaurants there are so many wonderful ones to choose from.

I guess it depends on how active and independent she is, and where her interest lie. You say she is not a gambler, but she may enjoy spending a little time playing some of the slots, or the tables.....

In any case, it is nery nice of you to include her in your vacation, and I hope you have a wonderful time. (Take lots of pictures)

Rent a car and see the Valley of Fire State Park. Even if you never wander very far from your automobile, you will be amazed. Do the Hoover Dam if you can get there early enough for unobstructed picture opportunities. Don't bother to take the tour.

Head down to Fremont Street one evening for a few of the overhead laser light shows. There is also spray can artists who are nothing short of sorcerers and an old gentleman who can mold your likeness out of a lump of clay. He is very good.

David....don't know if this will help or not, but here is my TR from last October:

I took my mom to Vegas for the first time last year (she is very close in age to your mother), and she loved it! The original reason for going was to visit with her favorite cousin in Utah whom she hadn't seen in about 30 years. She ended up enjoying Vegas a lot more than she expected, and is looking forward to going again someday.

Have fun!!!!
