Restaurants in Vegas

Hi guys,

Me and my partner are going to Vegas in September and want to make it a special trip. However, we are not in situation where we can afford expensive meals and want decent food and restaurant for evening meal at a good price.

So looking for a few pleasant places for give food for a good price.

Any suggestions as we are there for 10 days.

Darren

There are food choices in every price range. Without knowing where you're staying and what you consider "decent food" and a "good price", its hard to make specific recommendations.

Some hotels and malls have food courts where you can get typical American fast food at pretty typical prices. Most hotels have "coffee shops" with a variety of choices. Generally the snazzier the hotel the more expensive the coffee shop (and restaurants in general). So, if you're at a nicer hotel you might try wandering across or down the street for cheaper options.

Many places have happy hours from about 3 to about 6 in the late afternoon. Those can be a good way to sample a nicer place.

Checkout restaurant.com. They have coupons that get you some pretty good discounts. Use the hotel address when you sign up.

You might consider having a big meal at a nicer place at lunchtime. May places have lunch menus with smaller portions at lower prices.

Grand Lux Cafe at Venetian and Palazzo is always an excellent choice as there is so much variety and all at really decent prices.

California Pizza Kitchen at the Mirage, also Carnegie Deli there. First Food on the shops level at Palazzo is also good. There are tons of affordable places on the strip. Many hotels have excellent 24 hr cafes/coffee shops and you could always do a buffet or two.

Definitely check out restaurant.com, then. Mandalay Bay has a number of coupons. That's close to you. Mon Ami Gabi is at Paris and is reasonably priced, in my book.

Wheatie is right that if you're looking for good value on the strip that isn't fast food, check out the coupon sites like restaurant.com, groupon and living social. Just make sure that for each you pay attention to any restrictions as to time, day of the week, meal type, etc. Eating on the strip often comes at a premium. If you're planning excursions downtown or to offstrip casinos, you can often find better value.

Terrible's has a solid buffet considering the price. We even found a coupon for our 1st buffet 1/2 off and $5 of free slot play when siging up for the player's card. Over at Excalibur is a BBQ place called Lynyrd Skynyrd's. Food was excellent and the price was reasonable. You can order meat by the pound plus sides or order a large combo plate and share. Music some nights starts at 10. We arrived about 9:40 and got a great meal and free live rock music. Also, we ate at Top of the World for lunch. The price is very reasonable at lunch and you get a great view. Hash House a Go Go has huge portions that can easily be shared, making the food reasonable. Some of the appetizers are actually a nice portion for a meal for 1. For $10 I ate the appetizer pesto pasta with crab cake and it was awesome. The chicken and waffles is just under $20 and easily feeds 2.

People also like Ellis Island for their food specials. I personally have not been there and would not pull the car in on our last trip because I thought the place looked run down. Terrible's was much more appealing. However, my Mom and aunts ate at Ellis Island on their previous trip and they liked it.

I saw a sign for Hooter's $9.99 prime rib special. Again, it is not somewhere I wanted to eat because I just don't go to Hooters but my cousin wanted to go for the cheap meal.

Beach Cafe at Tropicana is very nice and has reasonible prices depending on what you order of course. I stay at The Tropicana regularly. Bacio is really nice for Italian food although it is a bit pricey. I hope you have an amazing time, I can't wait until i'm there in October!
