staying downtown

For me downtown is the place to be.....how would the golden gate casino and the four queens compare ? I stayed at the 4 queens about 8 years ago and was fine with it, i see the golden gate has been recently renovated but the rooms are supposedly tiny ? anyone stay at both ?

I found the 4 Queen rooms tiny. I have not been to the GG since the reno, but I would assume the rooms are close to the same size. You should try out the GG rooms and then let us know how you liked it

Rooms at the 4q are huge compared to the Golden gate.

I stayed at the Golden Gate before the renovations and the room was very small.

The rooms are too small at both places for DW and me. When we stay downtown now days, Golden Nugget is our choice. If I had to chose only between the GG and 4 Queens, the 4 Queens would win.

I have stayed at each place several times. If going solo, Golden Gate is OK in my opinion as is Four Queens. If more than one person, every room I've stayed in at Golden Gate would be too small.

I've also stayed at both. I agree with the above poster. Golden Gate is fine for 1 person, but too small for two.

I was not wowed by the Four Queens and will probably not stay there again if given the chance. (and that was a free stay) The room was definitely bigger than GG. Towels were nice, sheets were nasty (washed, but you could see the stains) and walls were thin, had to listen to guy next door puking in the wee hours of the morning.

I do like their casino better, but Downtown it doesn't matter what hotel you stay at as you can easily walk to another hotel's casino.

We always stay at the GN ourselves. We have tried the 4q on a comp and i thought the room was terrible.

Maybe try the renovated Plaza?

We stayed in 4Q in Dec 2009 (reservation transferred there from Binions as they had closed the week before). Room was quite large for downtown. However, we were in a handicap accessible room, so I do not know if this room was larger than a standard room.

Rooms in the South Tower at the 4Q are slightly larger then the North Tower. Rooms are furnished the same, but the hallways in the South Tower are nicer also.

With Golden Gate doing some major construction this spring, you might encounter a lot of noise there.
