I'm going in oct too and have asked this very question. The answers I got were the earlier in oct, the better the odds of great weather and the better the odds of pools being open but that hotels would generall have at least one pool open and many have in door pools as well.

There will be a difference on October 1st and 31st. On the 1st you are practically guaranteed pool weather, on the 31st you will have to be lucky to have pool weather on any given day.

The hotels know this and a number of pools at the larger complexes will close during the month. The most notable closure early in the month will be the lazy river at MGM.

Andrew: None of the Las Vegas hotel/casinos have indoor pools, despite what you may have heard.

You won't find indoor pools on the strip. Most of October is generally good pool weather and all of the strip pools will be open if the weather cooperates at all. Even toward the end of the month, most resorts have at least one pool open as well as the hot tubs. You should have no problem finding a pool if the weather is nice. I usually go in mid October and have always found the pool weather to be nice and the pools not too crowded.

Ktinca, does the same rule apply for the lazy river at Monte Carlo do you know?

Not the hotels on the strip. Some off strip hotels do have indoor pools, but that is about it.

As others have said, it depends on when you are going in October-the beginning (when it will still be pool weather and the pools will be open) or the end (when it definitely will be cooler and not all the pools at every hotel will be open). Some hotels do keep at least one pool open all year round. Some hotels will go by the weather- close earlier than planned if it turns cool or stay open longer than planned if it is very warm.

In any case- even if you can't use the pool, you may be able to sunbathe or use the Jacuzzi.

btw- I have been able to swim in November some years.

The lazy rivers at Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay are usually open through October. They also open earlier than the river at MGM in the Spring. Which is why we stay at both MC and MB more often than MGM, as most of our trips are Mar-May and October.

Thanks! The thought didn't even cross my mind because we are going the first week of Oct but you had me a little worried there for a bit. I'm looking forward to floating away with a very large frozen cocktail :)

We were there last year the whole first week of October and it was NOT pool weather at all. I had packed swimsuits and shorts and instead wore jeans all week and never did swim. We tried one day to swim but it was too cool and windy to even want to get in the water. It was great weather for walking around tho! Really comfortable, just not for swimming.

I was there the second week in Octber last year and it was beautiful every day - definitely pool weather. about 80 degrees and sunny every day. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. We're going the same time this October, hoping for a repeat performance!
