Free trip to Laughlin?

So someone posted on another thread about a bus trip to Laughlin and since I didn't know about it I thought I would ask some questions.

1. Where does it pick-up?

2. How long are you away from Vegas?

3. What are the casinos like in Laughlin?

4. What else is there in Laughlin?

I figure since I'm not exactly new on here and don't know about this, maybe the answers will help others too.

Not sure where pick-up is but have been to Laughlin. The trip is all day just because they want you in Laughlin. The casinos in Laughlin are small and most are run down, not much to see in the casinos. If you like table games, they have lower minm there. Laughlin sits on the Colorado River which is nice.

Damama check out the official Lauglin tourist website.http://www.visitlaughlin.com/

I wouldn't be as condeming as vegasjunkymn regarding the casinos. We spent a weekend there last Sept and really enjoyed the place. A weekend is plenty however.

Outside of the gambling you can take a boat trip which is nice and you can go to the beach at Harrahs. The water taxis are a nice way to get up and down the river to the different casinos.

We stayed at Don Laughlins riverside resort and it was packed with locals, really hard to get a table or even a slot machine. The cafe there was great I guess they are dependent on locals so standards are good.

I think it may have been jnclondon who posted about the free bus trip so maybe you should check out his post.

I have been toLaughlin, more than once, we were picked up( and droped of ) from our hotel which in my case was the Tahiti.

We were taken to the Hover Dam on the way we were shown where some celebrities live out in the sticks, we stoped on the other side of the river for a 20 minute photo stop. Was able to get some really good shots of the Dam, and at the time the work that was being done on the new road.

Our coach also stoped at a place where there was Indian stuff for sale, not for long but long enough for a good nose. The scenery was really good.(we did not travelback the same way and the scenery was not as good, back was about speed.)

On arrival in Laughlin we were given some fun books for the casino, and our tickets to the free buffet lunch .The day was then ours untill about 5 oclock.

It has been years since I took a bus trip to Laughlin but I do remember that it was free, all day, bus pick-up and drop off at the hotel, free buffet. We were in Vegas for a week and the trip was a nice change of pace and was glad I went just to see it. Never went back though...but wouldn't mind trying it again sometime.

We went out to the river where you can get a ride on a paddle steamer, we did that, then had lunch , which while nothing special but was just fine, , we had a look at a shoping mall across the street, thing seemed cheaper than in Vegas.then came back and had a little gamble( the casino's are a bit like down town) used the things in the fun book..sat and looked at the river until time to catch the coach.

This is a long day, got back around 8. i think ,very shattered , but happy.

Most of the tours last 9 or 10 hours and many pick up at some of the hotels on the strip. Obviously, you will waste time picking up other passengers and then dropping them off after the tour. If I remember correctly, you spend about 6 hours in Laughlin. As with any tour- you can't leave early if you don't like it and you can't stay later if you do like it.

I believe Laughlin is actually hotter than Vegas during the summer-something to definitely keep in mind. I was not terribly impressed with any of it- I like the casinos in Vegas much more. There is the Colorado River and water taxi rides.

If you have never been there and are willing to give up most of one day- sure, try it just to do/see something different. You never know what is going to "click" with you. Unfortunately, it wasn't a "clickable" visit for me, but the only way I knew that was to visit (I didn't take a tour).

We did this tour a few years back. It was a nice break from the raziness of the strip. I wouldn't ruch back or anything, though. If you have several days in Vegas, I would say it is worth it. If you are only in town for a short visit, however, I think your time is better spent IN Las Vegas.

Have a great trip!

VP, I have a feeling it won't click with me either. I was just curious about it.

I've been to Laughlin maybe a dozen times, it was closer to where my in-laws lived in AZ, and they liked it because it was close and cheap. It served it's purpose for all of us back then, but it's not Vegas.
