Help! Trying to avoid the taxi schlep between casinos.

Here's the bottom line:

My short Vegas trip itinerary is central to seeing The Phantom, shopping at "the mall" and eating at Mon Ami Gabi. This is geared for my mom, of course. :) She gets what she wants, it is her birthday.

So... I'm not thrilled with the prices at the Venetian. I stayed there before because I got a great deal and I loved it, but I'm wondering if there is a better choice for price that makes sense for the location. My dates are flexible, preferable late Oct. or early Nov., 2 nights.

What properties are a reasonable walking distance (no physical limitations other than slightly tired and/or mildly inebriated stumbling) from the Venetian?

I have stayed further down the strip with better rates, but ended up spending FOREVER schelpping around to the monorail stations or spending $$$ in cab fares. If the bottom line is more favorable to stay at the Venetian as a home base, I'm prepared to do it, but I figured I'd get your opinion before booking.

Thanks in advance.

Mon Ami Gabi is in the Paris and they usually have good reasonable rates. Also ck out Flamingo and the Mirage as they are in the same vicinity of the strip. Mirage was just having $99 nights or something like that. Ck out Fat Wallets forum for all sorts of promos.

Check smartervegas.com, you might get a better rate at Mirage.

I'd also suggest Mirage. A nice property, but will be cheaper for you than V/P. Mirage has some restaurants and bars, and is well located to where you need to be.

Thank you!

I've looked at smartervegas.com but have never used it. I have a major issue with booking something than you can't cancel since something always seemes to go wrong for me at the last minute, so I usually use Expedia or go thru the property directly. I will investigate more. Thanks!

For ease of getting around I'd just stay on that side of the street - of all the usual suspects (Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys, Paris) I've only stayed at Bally's but I can vouch for its cleanliness and good prices. It's connected internally to Paris so will make eating at MAG very convenient.

Someone had posted earlier today a promo code for Wynn and Encore. Promo code is USHARE4. Showed rate of $119/ night at Encore for 11/7 & 11/8. I did not check any other dates. Not sure if this is what price range you were looking for. Would help if you gave target price.

Holy smokes! That Wynn deal looked great!

What I'm not thrilled with is the $500 + bill total for two nights at The Ventian. If it was just a matter of saving a few bux, it wouldn't make sense since we'd have to taxi it back and forth.

Trying to avoid that!

Thanks so much!

Most deal codes found on smartervegas.com are booked direct with the hotel and are refundable (note I said "most," read the fine print of course!).
