Why is the Bellagio so good?!
Save

For New Years I've booked the Venetian- which looks amazing and I was very happy until I've found out I can stay at the Bellagio for the same price (its my own stupid fault for spending too much time on here).

Now the rooms are bigger and look better in the V. The casio also looks better in the V but its the Bellagio thats seems to get all the praise!

I know both would be good but for a first timer to LV (fairly keen to gamble ish) which would be better?

It's all a matter of personal preference. Some love V and think B is crap, others love B and say V is crap. V rooms (all but Venezia tower) are larger and have all just been redone so they win on the room thing. However, I personally find the V to be rather cheesy and do not care for their casino. I love everything about B, location since it's exactly center strip, casino, restaurants.....all excellent.

You may love V, if the price was better then stay there, both are excellent properties.

Yes, the rooms at the Venetian are larger because they're ALL suites.

I'd take Venetian in a heartbeat. But that's me. Everyone has different tastes.

Even if you do decide to stay at the V, you definitely need to go over and walk through the Bellagio since it is your first time to Vegas. Personally, I think both hotels are nice and the rooms are great so you cannot go wrong. But, as a first timer I think you may like seeing the fountain show and the conservatory at the Bellagio. You do not have to stay at the hotel to walk over there and see those things. Plus, if you like to window shop the shops in the Bellagio may be fun to look at.

Having stayed at both hotels, I can say that in terms of hotel quality, they are on par with each other.

The rooms at the Venetian are bigger, but I look at other criteria before making a decision. The Bellagio is right in the center of the strip, which makes hotel hopping easy. I also prefer the variety and quality of restaurants in the Bellagio compared to the Venetian.

Most of all, even though Bellagio has a very upscale clientele, I never feel awkward or out of place there. I guess that's the hallmark of a good hotel.

I am going to Vegas again in February. I already have a comp offer from the Venetian which I booked to have as a backup, but I would change it if I receive a similar comp at Bellagio.

Enjoy your trip!

The big advantage that Bellagio has is its central location. For New Year's, I'd want to be as centrally located as possible.

Bellagio common areas are pleasant, that's where it ends. The rooms are twee in decor and dark (lacking sun) for most of the day and a lot of the clientele are just sucked into the perceived Bellagio experience and have either paid well over the odds or got a bargain rate.

Visit the place, don't flatter them with your $'s for their overpriced underwhelming accommodations, sleap at TheHotel or Wynn's.

I don't happen to agree. Bellagio is a class act from start to finish. There are some rooms that do need refurbishment, those are mostly the lakeview ones since they are occupied all the time. I always request the South corridor of the main tower overlooking the pool area, lots of sunlight in those rooms and the ones I've stayed in have been beautiful and not worn or dark at all. I also prefer the location of the Bellagio and the dining options there.

I haven't stayed at the Venetian yet, but I've stayed at the Bellagio many many times. The one thing I love about the Bellagio is the LIGHT. It has, by far, the most natural light in the common areas (hallways and shops) of any of the big casinos.

The Venetian mall is fairly lame, while the Bellagio shops are designer shops such as Hermes, Armani, Tiffany, Prada, etc. (Exceedingly expensive and overprice to be certain, but gorgeous nonetheless.)

The floral arrangments at Bellagio are stunning, but there is no strange odor like the Veneitan has. The Jean Phillippe Patisserie at the Bellagio has the most incredible desserts around.

The Venetian has interesting ceiling treatments - Rennaissance themed artwork on the ceilings and the fairly common cloud/sky treatment on the mall ceilings.

I'm sure you'd enjoy either place. Bellagio is more classic elegance while the Venetian is a little bit mroe Vegas style, imho.
