The drinks are free, but just how many you get depends on which casino you go to and how busy it is.

Generally what happens is this: while you are gambling at either a card table or a slot machine, a cocktail waitress comes around and asks for your drink order. Make sure you stay at the same table or slot machine for at least 10 minutes so that the waitress can find you when she brings your drink. If you tip the waitress each time she brings you a drink (a dollar usually works) , she will most likely be more attentive to you. Expect the waitress to come around once every 20 minutes or so.

As for food, you might catch a 2 for 1 coupon for one of the casino restaurants, but unless you are a big gambler don't expect a free meal just for being there.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply !!

Where can I find these 2 for 1 coupons from. Can they be printed from the internet and used.

Also where can I learn how to gamble in the casinos. Are there any good websites out there.

I think you can get better drink service by sitting at a VP bar. You usually have to bet 3-5 coins per bet or the bartendar will let you know to. Unless you are playing at a place like the Westward HO. You can sit at the bar, put $5 in a VP machine, drink for free for 3 hrs and still cash out ahead! We went there many times.

Food is cheap everywhere, so I wouldn't worry about getting it for free. I do know that if you are playing a table for a period of time, you can ask the pit boss for a food comp and they will usually give it to you.

If you cant' score any free food......99 cent huge hot dogs and shrimp cocktails are everywhere. LOL

Good luck.

No such thing as free food and drinks in Vegas, its an Oxy-Moron. As mentioned the easiest way is to sit at a video poker bar and plug one of the machines with bills plus a tip. The downside of this is none of the VP machines at the bar are full pay (AKA sucker machines).

The next best thing is a table game like BJ. But again you are playing a minimum of $3-to-$5 per hand plus a tip to get a drink. There a few places with a limited number of tables for 1 or 2 dollars per hand, but not on the strip.

On the strip, dinner comps are hard to come by. Most require $25+ per hand at 4-hours to get a coffee shop comp. Room comps on the strip start around $100 per hand @ 4-hours play. There are some places downtown where $5 or $10 per hand will get you dinner and room comps, like Gold Spike and El Cortez.

And the worst place is the low limit slot machines. These are the machines near the entrances far and removed from the serving stations, but once you finally get a drink here, if you tip really good the CW will check on you every 30-minutes or so you big spender:)

Thanks again.

Sorry to sound like a novice but that is what I really am. What is a VP bar and how do i bet coins. Is it a slot machine or is it something else.

I will be staying at Treasure Island but I have heard that the bets at that casino are quite high. So I will need to go somewhere else to catch the free drinks while playing. lol

Any Inputs please !!

If you've never gambled before and are heading out next week, I wouldn't get too optimistic about learning anything too in-depth......

VP is Video Poker machines. There are some machines that let you put coins in, but most of the one's a played were bills only. They had the coin slots blocked so the coins wouldn't fall in. If you are interested in gambling at tables, the majority of casinos have scheduled 'learning' times. Ask when you check in.
