Westgate vs Luxor

Sorry if there are typos, I am from Finland and really really exited visiting Vegas again.

This time Im with friends and have booked the Westgate as I was there once before and found it nice. However I see the Luxor now with quite the same price so I cant make up my mind if I should change the hotel to Luxor. Finer hotels were out of of our budget range this time.

I have stayed once at Excalibur and felt like that area makes you stay and gamble at MGM hotels nearby, as its a long way to upper strip properties. Previously when I was at Westgate I felt quite the other way around as Monorail was so convenient to upper strip part.

I understand Westgate has slightly bigger basic rooms with a minifridge and since we have two rooms we could get connected ones. Also pool areas look quite the same and I prefer gambling at Wynn, Cesars etc, so casino is not an issue.

After once visiting Luxor lobby tho it was impressive that my first times Vegas friends could prefer that one. Also, as we plan to drink a lot and party perhaps MGM scene would be better, yet once again we can take the monorail... help me out, what do you think?

Luxor is on the strip, recently remodeled rooms and connected to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. Big casinos, tons of food options. Westgate is old and 1/2 mile off the strip

Funny. I stayed at Luxor last month, and am considering Westgate for part of my next trip.

You understand the location issues here. Luxor has the advantage of having a number of other casinos within walking distance. So you have more restaurants, bars, and entertainment options right there. It sounds like that would be a positive for your group.

Neither would be my choice, but of the two -- Luxor!

If you understand the location and want to gamble north strip than between those two is Westage. North strip just doesn’t do it for us. We went and walked the linq again and were back south right after dinner.

No north Strip properties are similarly priced?

Harrahs, Flamingo, LINQ? Perhaps TI?

The Westgate has a great Sportsbook called the Superbook (the worlds largest), poor dining options at Strip prices (for a off Strip property) and a Monorail Station. Make sure to book a remodeled room. Hilton dropped the name because they did not maintain Hilton's standards. They went through name changes. It was the LVH and it is now the Westgate. It is mainly a timeshare property now. Timeshare people all over the property trying to sell.

I would book the Luxor, between these two choices. MGM (owner) did a nice remodel of many rooms at that property.

OP: Have you looked at Bally's on your dates? I just stayed in a Jubilee room and two weeks ago a Resort Tower Room. Both Towers are remodeled. The Resort Tower used to be called the Indigo Tower. If the prices are similar, I would book Bally's, Luxor, than Westgate in that order, for resorts at that price range.

Out of those two Luxor but I would check prices for Harrah's, Bally's, and Flamingo. They probably would be close to your price point.
