South Lake Tahoe

We are a family group visiting South Lake Tahoe during New Years. I am having a difficult time deciding where to stay that will enable the older folks to gamble and younger close to the slopes. We are not accustomed to driving in snow so I would like to be within walking distance of the shuttle. I am considering Tahoe Village or the Summit for condo rentals however I am open to any suggestions. Any advice would be appreciated.

Stay at Marriott Timber Lodge or Grand Residence. Both are next to the Gondola and within a short walk to the casinos. They have kitchen facilities.

Tahoe Village and Summit are very near the Kingsbury Grade. The area is very steep so if any in your group are unstable in snow you would not want to add that steep terrain to the mix.

You could also try Tahoe Seasons which is across the road from the old Gondola and the shuttle to the casinos comes right to the front door so no weather exposure from being outside.

The Forest Inn is a nice place right behind Harrah's and it is also behind the Marriott Residences listed above. They have rooms with full kitchens which make one feel like home, and help avoid crowded restaurants of you prefer. You can walk to the Heavenly tram and casino's as well.
