Best place to stay in Lake Tahoe for snow

Hello everyone, we are in Florida and want to do a snow trip to Lake Tahoe over the MLK holiday. Looking for suggestions on what part of LT is best for snow ,and are there log cabin rentals?. We loved the log cabins in Tennessee.2 teenage boys 14 and 15 would like to snowboard, and tubing. Maybe some lessons for ski for them.

Thank you

All parts of the lake are great for snow in January. Just be aware that MLK weekend is really busy and crowded - best to get accommodations ASAP. Unfortunately, there aren't many log cabin type places to stay unless you rent one privately on VRBO or AirB&B; you could probably find a ton of cabins that way.

You might want to stay near one of the big village based ski resorts like Heavenly in South Lake or Northstar or Squaw Valley on the north shore. In South Tahoe the only daily rental cabins I can think of are at Zephyr Cove, about 10 minutes out of town, other than that there are plenty of places to stay in town and lots to do for the kids; there is zip lining, tubing, snowmobiling and boarding at Heavenly or Sierra at Tahoe, about a 40 minute drive away.

Same situation at Northstar and Squaw and the closer you stay to the resort the less driving you will have to do. Lodging booked through the resorts there will be sky high but you can look at VRBO and AirB&B using 'Olympic Valley' for Squaw and "Northstar' for Northstar.
