We are planning a 4 night trip to Yellowstone this Christmas. We have 5 in the group two adults and 3 kids. 15,13,7. We wanted to spend some time in yellowstone and also downhill ski.
We can still get a room in Mamoth but no snow vehicles are available so we were thinking of either flying into Jackson and staying in West Yellowstone for two days and snowmobiling into old faithful and skiing for two days in Jackson or Flying into Bozeman and staying at Big Sky and taking a one day snowmobile trip to old faithful. Second day maybe into Lamar valley? Sleigh ride dinners sound fun too.
Any thoughts that might help me decide? Is the driving from West Yellowstone to Jackson ok in December or trecherous? How long would this drive take in the winter? Would like to see the wolves but not sure if the kids would want to be up at 4am to do it.
Also would like to stay at a place with a lodge feel not a rundown motel.
Any lodging suggestions at either location?
