Driving from Jackson to West Yellowstone?

What is the drive like from Jackson to West Yellowstone entrance in the December. Is the road usually open? Do you need chains? (if that's what you call them in the US)

Thanks, thinking of driving around to see the Wolf and grizzly centre. Is it worth it?

Thanks all

You are all being a great help.

The road through the park is closed. You would have to drive the Teton Pass through Idaho. It is a two lane road and it takes about 5 hrs in good weather. I would not want to drive it in bad weather. You might want to check out taking a snowcat into the park and staying there for a few days.
