What is the posted speed limit through this section? Are there any speed traps?

Most two lane roads in Montana are posted for 70mph.

Slow down for towns as posted. No one in Montana is particularly concerned about highway speeding. I think its great you're taking the REAL road instead of sticking to the interstate. Be sure to stop at a cafe for pie along the way!

87 is straight through to Billings, while the interestate does this HUGE backtrack.

87 probably has better scenery

We were considering taking 89 down to 12 over to 3 and down to Billings. Which of the two would be more scenic, this or 87 all the way? Good lunch stop either way? Thanks!

I took 87 to 3 down and over back to 87. No cops. Went 75mph most of the way except where the limit slowed down for small towns. The wind farm on hwy 3 near Garneill was really cool. There was some construction, lane closures on hwy 3 near Shawmut 3 a month ago.
